The Otsuka Museum of Art opened in June 1994 after the Takaya Cultural Foundation was established in 1992 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Takaya Group's founding, with the aim of contributing to the development and accumulation of local art and culture through patronage activities.
The museum's collection consists of around 300 works (including sketches) by Japanese painter Kanashima Keika, who was born in Kannabe-cho, Hiroshima Prefecture, as well as around 600 works by leading modern and contemporary Japanese and Western-style artists, such as Yokoyama Taikan, Hashimoto Kansetsu, Kodama Nozomi, Maeda Seison, Ikeda Yoson, and Umehara Ryuzaburo.
